SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 17: The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, led by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has accorded administrative approval for the development of a state-of-the-art Tribal Tourism Village at Behri Qasab in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

The project, as per an official statement, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 10.22 crore under the Capex Budget 2026-27, aims to showcase the rich tribal culture and heritage of the region while strengthening local infrastructure and creating new economic opportunities for local youth.

The Tribal Tourism Village is envisaged as a dedicated destination that will highlight the distinctive cultural traditions and way of life of the tribal communities, while providing an added attraction for visitors to Poonch.

The project is also expected to contribute to local employment and livelihood generation, support community participation in tourism-related activities and further integrate Poonch with the broader tourism circuit of Jammu & Kashmir.
