5 terrorist associates held, arms cache recovered

Kulgam, Oct 07: Police in Kulgam, in a joint operation with the Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF, arrested five terrorist associates and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession at Khrewan Chadder in Kulgam, officials said on Wednesday.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the operation was launched on the basis of credible inputs, leading to the arrest of five persons.

He said the recoveries included two pistols, three magazines, 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition and three grenades.

The official identified the arrested persons as Tajamul Hussain Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmed Mir, resident of Gufbal; Rehmat Ali Naikoo, son of Gh Hassan Naikoo, resident of Khrewan; Tehrim Ahmed Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, resident of Khrewan; Manzoor Ahmed Bhat, son of Gh Hassan Bhat, resident of Khrewan Chadder; and Kifiyat Ahmed Dar, son of Ab Rasheed Dar, resident of Maltalhama, Kulgam.

He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered, while further investigation is underway. (KNO)
