AK-47, grenades, rounds recovered from hideout

Kupwara, Oct 07: Security forces on Wednesday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from an old hideout in the Nagda Nar forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

A top officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that, based on specific information, a joint team of Handwara Police, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF conducted a search operation in the forest area.

He said that during the search, the joint team detected and destroyed an old hideout and recovered one AK-47 rifle, three grenades, 857 AK rounds, 192 PIKA rounds, eight AK magazines, one silencer and 83 pistol rounds, besides other incriminating material.

The official said that in this regard, FIR No. 232 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation initiated. (KNO)
