Baramulla, Oct 24: Asking the media to present facts objectively while reporting on developments in the region, Agriculture Minister Javed Dar on Saturday said Jammu and Kashmir has faced numerous challenges since 2019, which needed to be highlighted through factual and balanced reporting.
Addressing National Conference (NC) workers’ convention here in North Kashmir, Minister Dar referred to party President Dr Farooq Abdullah’s remarks, saying the developments that had taken place in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019 were evident and should be presented before the public through factual reporting.
The Minister said the party convention was a response to those who claimed that the National Conference has “weakened and lost its political relevance.”
“Those who say NC stands weakened should open their eyes,” Dar said, pointing to the presence of thousands of party workers at the convention.
He said the large gathering, along with the joining of new members, reflected the party’s grassroots strength and the trust it continued to enjoy among sections of the public.
The Minister asserted that the National Conference remained a strong political force in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the participation of party workers demonstrated its continued presence on the ground.
On speculation surrounding a possible cabinet reshuffle and reactions from leaders who had been dropped, the Minister said the opposition relied on statements, while the National Conference believed in practical work.
He said the party’s approach was evident to the people, adding that political statements alone could not be compared with work on the ground—(KNO)
