Srinagar, Oct 24: National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday urged Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo to submit the pending report on daily wagers’ regularisation by October 31 and send the file to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah before the deadline.
“There is still time till the 31st. I request the Chief Secretary, who is the son of the soil, to send the regularisation file to the Chief Minister before the deadline so that the promise made to daily wagers can be fulfilled,” Sadiq told reporters after reviewing developmental works in his Zadibal constituency.
The NC chief spokesperson said daily wagers and casual workers had approached him earlier in the day, adding that the Chief Secretary had been given six months to submit a report on their regularisation, but it was yet to be submitted.
“History will always see what you have done for your people. I think now is the time to submit that report before the 31st,” he said, adding that those responsible for delaying the report would be answerable if the workers were forced to take to the streets.
During the interaction, Sadiq also reviewed developmental works and winter preparedness in Zadibal, stressing the need to complete pending projects before snowfall.
He said Kashmir has a working season of around six months and urged departments to take up pending works under the CAPEX budget, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and other schemes on priority.
“I have requested every department to immediately talk to contractors and ensure that all works, whether under CAPEX, CDF or other schemes, are completed as soon as possible, before the snow starts,” he said.
He added that roads, lanes, drains and interior areas needed improvement ahead of winter.
Sadiq said projects worth around Rs 100–150 crore were underway in the constituency and expressed satisfaction with the progress of works in sectors including health, roads and other civic infrastructure.
On the possibility of cabinet expansion, he said the decision rested with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the party leadership, adding that he was not in a position to comment on the matter.
“The Chief Minister has promised that he will do it and he will definitely do it,” Sadiq said.
He also criticised the BJP, alleging that misleading claims were being made about development works in Srinagar and that some political leaders were taking credit for projects funded by the government—(KNO)
