SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 27: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, Tuesday chaired a virtual meeting with the Director, Command Area Development Kashmir, and Director Horticulture Kashmir to discuss and review the establishment of bore wells in rainfed areas of Kashmir Division.

The meeting was attended by Chief Agriculture Officers (CAOs), Chief Horticulture Officers (CHOs), and Assistant Soil Conservation Officers (ASCOS) of the division.

Detailed deliberations were held on the proposed establishment of bore wells, coordination among the concerned departments, and the measures required for effective implementation of the initiative.

The meeting, as per an official statement, underscored the importance of strengthening irrigation facilities in rainfed areas to improve water availability and provide sustainable support to farmers engaged in agricultural and horticultural activities. The initiative aims to address irrigation-related challenges and facilitate better access to water in areas largely dependent on rainfall.

Emphasising the need for coordinated efforts, the Director stressed close cooperation among the concerned officers to facilitate the implementation of the initiative. He also highlighted the importance of proper planning, regular monitoring, and effective utilisation of resources to achieve the intended objectives.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on concerted efforts by all concerned departments to strengthen irrigation infrastructure and support the farming community through improved water availability in rainfed areas of Kashmir Division.
